La Rabita Village Details
La Rabita is a typical coastal village to the east of the Costa
Tropical coastline. This is a really pretty seaside resort that
is mainly populated by the Spanish tourists in July/August each
year and for the rest of the year by the local people of the
Village.
In the winter months the population of the village is around
1.500 however in the summer months this increases to
approximately 3.500.
The people of the village are
extremely friendly and go out of their way to help. The village
has recently benefited from a considerable amount of European
money the same as all the surrounding Costa Tropical area,
providing a new promenade, paving, and street lights. In the
height of the season the activities center around the promenade
and beach front. There are a number of beach bars/restaurants on
the front, coupled with a number of friendly local bars in the
back streets. In the Winter months there are around 9
bars/restaurants, 3 supermarkets, 2 banks, newsagents, 1 gift
shop, doctors, chemists, 2 fresh fish markets and a meat market,
whilst in the summer the number of bars/restaurants reach around
15.
There is an all year round
market on a Friday, although this is obviously busier throughout
the Summer months. In addition there are many fairs, festivals
and Circus's that visit the village, the whole year round.
An excellent bus service also
covers this area, which covers connections from either of the 2
airports (Almeria & Malaga). This bus runs regularly and
connects Granada, Malaga, Almeria, Seville, Motril and Adra.
The Promenade in La Rabita is a
nice place to take a stroll in the day or the night. The beach
is a mixture of sand and pebble, however is a safe place for all
ages to bath.
For the more adventurous there
are 3 disco's open only in the summer months, but these are at
the quiet locations at either ends of the village. If anyone
wants or desires, there is also a Naturist beach where the more
adventurous can expose themselves in a totally peaceful and
pretty environment.
The climate on the Costa
Tropical is superb and it has even has excelled above the
Canaries. If you visit this village, in the Winter/Spring you
can expect and average temperature of around 18 degrees and in
the Summer around 30-35 degrees.
From this base you around 30
min drive from 2 18 hole golf course, 2 water parks, the
beautiful Alpujarra's, Mini-Hollywood, Granada the Alhambra),
and the skiing are of the Sierra Nevada. There is plenty to do
for all ages for people who visit this village and area.
