The village of Yunquera nestles high up in the mountain region of the protected Blue Pine forests. The views from the village are quite fantastic, whether straight down the centre of the valley all the way to Malaga, 54km away, with all the villages and towns in between, or high above, the rugged mountaintops, sometimes snow-capped in winter.
The scenery around the village is spectacular, ranging from the lush, green orange groves on the mountainsides to the dramatic rock formations that loom high above. The drive to the historic town of Ronda, 35km away, is particularly stunning, as is the onward journey to the city of Seville.
The village itself is typically Spanish and boasts narrow, winding streets, whitewashed houses, a beautiful church, lots of donkeys, goats, horses and several fiestas that seem to go on for days! There are several very good restaurants, including a roast chicken and pizza shop!
The local supermarket has a decent selection of groceries along with 4 butchers, 3 fishmongers and 3 bakeries. theres lots to enjoy in and around the village, including tennis, trekking, mountainbiking, birdwatching. Look out for Golden and Imperial eagles above the house!
